Mela 5.2 Update — Refreshed Preset Browser, Note Event Module

The Mela 5.2 is packed. Let’s start with the Preset Browser interface that was introduced in v2. It worked well when Mela modules had a static arrangement and signal flow, and AUv3 plug-ins in hosts tended to have the same 1024 x 335 window size. Over time Mela’s UI became more and more dynamic and the preset browser started to look out of place. The latest update greatly improves the UI, feels integrated with the Preset Selector and is vertically scrollable on the left side.

Next, two new complementary features allow you to take a modulation signal and convert it to note-on/off events and vice versa. Modulating the Note Event module’s primary parameter generates note-on/off events. It can be used to create algorithmic compositions or simply trigger envelopes or retrigger LFOs. The MIDI Source module now allows you to create a gate-like modulation signal following the note-on/off events. You can use this instead of an envelope generator when you don’t need the complexity.

Finally, the text input features have been improved throughout the app. For example, entering parameter values or a preset name no longer happens in a separate text field, instead, the labels and buttons turn into text fields in place for editing.

There’s a lot more to this update, for the full details check out the Changelog.
