Mela 5.0 Update — Switching to IAP Model, Introducing Module Collections

As part of the 5.0 update Mela’s business model is changing. Major versions will no longer be released as separate apps but instead, Mela 5 will simply replace Mela 4. This will allow Mela to retain its App Store ranking as well as user reviews. You’ll just receive updates without needing to look for the next major version on the App Store.

New Modules in Mela 5

Pricing

Collections are priced at $19.99 each. Until March 12, you can take advantage of the introductory sale. Collections 1 & 2 are 25% off, and Collection 3 is 50% off.

New Modules

Mela now ships with a total of 58 modules. The 6 new modules are part of Collection 3: Digital Delay, Simple LFO, Dual Pan, Stereo Pan, Mid-Side and Phase Inverter. With four of these modules, you can manipulate stereo image in various ways. For example, Stereo Pan lets you position left and right channel signals in the stereo field, whereas Mid-Side lets you control the mid-side balance of a stereo signal. The Simple LFO module is a simplified version of the LFO and Random modules. Sometimes too many controls can get in the way of doing things quickly and that’s where Simple LFO shines. Its waveform options include all classic shapes as well as Random Glide and Random Hold. In a similar spirit, Digital Delay is a simple delay effect with straight repeats and ping-pong options. It comes with all the standard controls. You can get creative by modulating its Feedback parameter which can go up to 200%. Check out the Changelog for the full details about the new modules.

Why should I get Mela? What’s so special about it?

I saw a few people around the web ask this question. I thought I’d address it here. Simply put, Mela is a modular music-making tool that scales with your needs. Expanding this, its 3 core strengths are:

  1. Mela is Visual and Modular. With its intuitive interface, you can seamlessly build fully custom polyphonic synthesisers, unique audio effects, and complex MIDI processors.

  2. Mela Scales. It can be a core part of your system or be used as a small utility to let you perform niche tasks. Mela can run as a standalone app or as multiple plug-in instances in a host, on macOS and iOS.

  3. Mela has Great Support. Its capabilities continuously improve, evolve and expand. A new version of Mela comes out every few weeks with new features and modules designed around user feedback.

Artist Presets & Themes

There are dedicated pages for Artist Presets and Artist Themes. If you have created Mela presets (whether paid or free) or a theme that you want to share with others let me know and I’ll happily link them there.
