The iPhone 5, Apple’s next generation iPhone expected to go on sale around October, will come with a 19-pin connector port at the bottom instead of the proprietary 30-pin port “to make room for the earphone moving to the bottom”, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.
New smaller connector? it’s about time! I’m not sure about the headphone minijack moving to the bottom thought. It’s probably more convenient when putting the phone in your pocket while earphones are connected to it, as you won’t need to flip the phone vertically before you put it in your pocket. It will feel natural. However, it might be a little awkward holding the phone in your hand while the earphone cable is coming out from its bottom and probably will take some getting used to. Also, you may not be able to connect some accessories while you have the headphones connected to your iPhone. Blue Mic’s Mikey comes to mind.
