Hey Ableton, it's 2012

by Nikolozi Meladze

So I’m trying to install Ableton Live 8.3 on my new retina MacBook Pro and I’m greeted with this message:

You’ve reached your authorization limit.

Your serial number: [XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX]

Your product: Live 8

Please briefly explain why you need more authorizations for this license. We deal with each case individually, so we’ll handle your request based on the explanation you give us here.

I need more authorizations because:

Yeah, crazy right? I upgrade my computer every 8-12 months. So looks like I need to explain again. Why should I have to explain that I’m installing the app on a new computer? I know for a fact that I can go and download a cracked version of Live 8.3. And guess what it will be faster to unlock. Again, the paying user suffers.

Common, it’s 2012! Can you imagine having to explain to Apple (for example) that you are re-donwloading an app (that you’ve purchased before) on your new iPhone. Ridiculous right?
